Auras are an integral Game Mechanic in Dead by Daylight Dead by Daylight}}.


Overview[edit | edit source]

For a guide on some in-game distances to better gauge the working-radius of Aura-reading Perks, please refer to Distances.

Some Unlockables unlock potential in one's Aura-reading abilities.

Auras can be seen through any obstacles and usually across large distances. Aura-reading abilities are great for locating Allies, Enemies or Objectives.


Aura Colours[edit | edit source]

Auras come in different colours, depending on whether the Aura is from an Objective, an Ally or an Enemy.

Survivors with Madness suffer from the Affliction of Restraint:

  • Moderately increased Illusionary Doctor duration.

Survivors with Madness suffer from the Affliction of Restraint:

  • Moderately increased Illusionary Doctor duration.

  • Evil Within cannot progress past Evil Within II.
  • Each Hit Score Event grants 100 % Bonus Bloodpoints in the Brutality Category and additional 150 % Bonus Bloodpoints in the Deviousness Category.

Eroded Token A heavily worn out token made of brass. If an inscription or drawing was once engraved in it, it has today completely disappeared. Can be attached to the Key using its jump ring to channel the Key's Aura-reading ability.
  • Reveals Survivors' Auras when within a range of 24 metres.
Key Key}}
Scratched Pearl}}
Scratched Pearl A porous and scratched white pearl. A minuscule jump ring allows the pearl to be attached to the Key.
  • Moderately increases Key Aura-reading range.
Gold Token}}
Gold Token A gold token with a dull appearance. Both faces are smooth and void of any inscriptions. Can be attached to the Key using its jump ring to channel the Key's Aura-reading ability.
  • Reveals Survivors' Auras when within a range of 48 metres.
Blood Amber}}
Blood Amber A blood-red amber striped with black veins. The amber is warm to the touch. Can be attached to the Key using its jump ring to channel the Key's Aura-reading ability.
  • Reveals the Killer's Aura when within a range of 32 metres.
  • Tremendously decreases Key Efficiency.
Unique Wedding Ring}}
Unique Wedding Ring An engraved wedding ring that emerged from The Fog and resonates with an indescribable and incomprehensible energy.
  • Reveals the Obsession's Aura Aura}}.
  • Reduces the odds of being the Obsession.

Red Twine A bristly and rough piece of twine of a deep red colour. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability. Map Map}}
Unusual Stamp}}
Unusual Stamp A wooden stamp with a cross-hatched rubber pad used to mark documents. It is unclear as to how or by whom this stamp was originally used. Can be used with a map.
  • Moderately increases Map Tracking range.
Yellow Wire}}
Yellow Wire A small electrical wire. Both ends are heavily damaged like it has been forcefully torn out of its intended location. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability.
  • Unlocks the ability to track the Exit Gate Exit Gate}} Switches.
Black Silk Cord}}
Black Silk Cord A smooth black cord with a soft appearance. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability.
  • Unlocks the Map's ability to track the Hatch Hatch}}.
Odd Stamp}}
Odd Stamp A stamp carved out of sturdy blonde wood. The text found at the base is incomprehensible: "kw'zvre'od". Can be used with a map.
  • Considerably increases Map Tracking range.
Crystal Bead}}
Crystal Bead An intricate set of lenses wrapped up in an astonishingly complex apparatus. The gears controlling the lenses' focus move by themselves as to focus on something invisible to humans.
  • All other Survivor see the Auras generated by the Map when activated.

Map (Item)}}
Map (Item) An old piece of parchment made out of a skin-like material. Is rolled and sealed with an uncoloured leather string. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns the Map. Generators' Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.
  • 20 seconds of use.
  • Starts with 1 object tracked.
  • Unlocks the ability to track Generators Generators}} within a range of 8 metres.
  • Unlocks the ability to track Chests Chests}} revealed by Detective's Hunch Detective's Hunch}}.
Rainbow Map}}
Rainbow Map A piece of parchment made out of oddly fresh skin. Blood on its edge has yet to dry. It is rolled and sealed with multiple coloured ropes and cords. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks a great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns up the Map. Objects with Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.

Bloodied Blueprint}} Bloodied Blueprint Reveals the Aura Aura}} of the Basement Hooks to you for 20 seconds at the start of the Trial.

Tremendously increases the chance of spawning the Basement Basement}} in the Killer Shack if available.

Torn Blueprint}} Torn Blueprint Reveals the Aura Aura}} of the Basement Hooks to you for 20 seconds at the start of the Trial.

Tremendously increases the chance of spawning the Basement Basement}} in the main building if available.

A Nurse's Calling}} A Nurse's Calling

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

The Auras Auras}} of Survivors who are healing or being healed are revealed to you when they are within a range of 20/24/28 metres.

Barbecue & Chilli}} Barbecue & Chilli

A deep bond with The Entity Entity}} unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

After hooking a Survivor, all other Survivors' Auras Auras}} are revealed to you for 4 seconds when they are farther than 40 metres from the Hook Hook}}.

  • Each time a Survivor is hooked for the first time, gain a 25 % stack-able bonus to all Bloodpoint gains up to a maximum of 50/75/100 %.

The bonus Bloodpoints are only awarded post-Trial.

Bitter Murmur}} Bitter Murmur

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

Each time a Generator Generator}} is fully repaired, Survivors within 16 metres of the completed Generator will be revealed for 5 seconds.

When the last Generator is fully repaired, all the Survivors' Auras Auras}} are revealed for 5/7/10 seconds.

Blood Warden}} Blood Warden

As soon as the Exit Gate Exit Gate}} is opened, Blood Warden is activated. The Auras Auras}} of any Survivors located within Exit Gate areas are revealed to you.

Once per Trial, hooking a Survivor while Blood Warden is active calls upon The Entity Entity}} to block both Exits for all Survivors for 30/40/60 seconds.

Corrupt Intervention}} Corrupt Intervention

Your prayers invoke a dark power that meddles with the Survivors' chances of survival.

3 Generators located farthest from you are blocked by The Entity Entity}} for 80/100/120 seconds at the start of the Trial.

Survivors cannot repair the Generators Generators}} for the duration Corrupt Intervention is active.

Cruel Limits}} Cruel Limits

Your ties to the otherworldly manifest when your prey attempts to get away.

Each time a Generator Generator}} is repaired, all Windows Windows}} and vault locations within a radius of 24 metres from the completed Generator are blocked for all Survivors for the next 20/25/30 seconds.

Dead Man's Switch}} Dead Man's Switch

You become obsessed with one Survivor.

After hooking the Obsession Obsession}}, Dead Man's Switch activates for the next 35/40/45 seconds.

While activated, any Survivor that stops repairing a Generator Generator}} before it is fully repaired causes The Entity Entity}} to block the Generator until Dead Man's Switch's effect ends.

Affected Generators are highlighted by a white Aura Aura}}.

You can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

Deerstalker}} Deerstalker

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

Reveals dying Survivors' Auras Auras}} when standing within 20/28/36 metres.

Discordance}} Discordance

Any time two or more Survivors are working on the same Generator Generator}}, that Generator's Aura Aura}} is highlighted in yellow for 8/10/12 seconds.

Gearhead}} Gearhead

You've got an ear for well-oiled gears.

After hitting a Survivor 2 times with your Basic Attack, Gearhead activates for 20/25/30 seconds.

Each time a Survivor completes a Good Skill Check Skill Check}} while repairing, the Generator Generator}} will be revealed by a yellow Aura Aura}} for as long as it is being repaired.

Hangman's Trick}} Hangman's Trick

Your ingenious modifications to Hooks Hooks}} alert you of tampering.

  • Gain a notification when a Survivor begins sabotaging a Hook.

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading abilities.

  • While carrying a Survivor, see the Aura Aura}} of any Survivor within 2/4/6 metres of any Hook.

Hex: Retribution}} Hex: Retribution

A Hex that lashes out upon its destruction. Those who cross you will be punished.

Any Survivor who cleanses a Dull Totem Dull Totem}} will suffer from the Oblivious Oblivious}} Status Effect for 35/40/45 seconds.

If any Hex Totem Hex Totem}} is cleansed, including this one, the Auras Auras}} of all Survivors are revealed for 10 seconds.

Hex: The Third Seal}} Hex: The Third Seal

A Hex that hinders one's Aura-reading ability.

Hitting a Survivor with a Basic Attack while the Hex Totem is active applies the Blindness Blindness}} Status Effect.

This effect applies to the last 2/3/4 Survivors hit.

The Hex effects persist as long as the related Hex Totem Hex Totem}} is standing.

"She touched your skin, you bear the witch's mark!"

Hex: Undying}} Hex: Undying

A Hex which maintains the vile powers that flow throughout the Trial.

While Hex: Undying is active, Survivors within 2 metres of any Totem Totem}} have their Aura Aura}} revealed for 4/5/6 seconds.

When another Hex Totem is cleansed, that Hex transfers to an available Dull Totem, losing any Tokens in the process.

I'm All Ears}} I'm All Ears

Your keen senses are sharpened in the dark Realm of The Entity Entity}}.

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

Any Survivor performing a rushed action within 48 metres from your location will have their Aura Aura}} revealed to you for 6 seconds.

I'm All Ears can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.

Knock Out}} Knock Out

The trauma caused by your brutal attacks makes crying for help painfully difficult.

Survivors put into the Dying State by your Basic Attack are not revealed to other Survivors when those are standing outside of a range of 32/24/16 metres.

For the next 15 seconds, the dying Survivor is affected by the Blindness Blindness}} Status Effect and crawls 50 % slower.

Lightborn}} Lightborn

Unlike other beasts of The Fog, you have adapted to light.

Grants immunity to Blindness caused by Flashlights Flashlights}} or Firecrackers Firecrackers}}.

Survivors attempting to blind you have their Aura Aura}} revealed for 6/8/10 seconds.

Surveillance}} Surveillance

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

All regressing Generators Generators}} will be highlighted by a white Aura Aura}}. Once regression ends, Generators will be highlighted by a yellow Aura for 8/12/16 seconds.

The Hearing distance of noises caused by Generator Repairs are increased by 8 metres.

Territorial Imperative}} Territorial Imperative

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

Survivors' Auras Auras}} are revealed to you for 3 seconds when they enter the Basement Basement}} and you are more than 32 metres away from the Basement entrance.

Territorial Imperative can only be triggered once every 30/25/20 seconds.

Thrilling Tremors}} Thrilling Tremors

Your dark designs and shrewd composure rouse The Entity Entity}}.

After picking up a Survivor, all Generators Generators}} not being repaired by Survivors are blocked by The Entity and cannot be repaired for the next 16 seconds.

Affected Generators are highlighted by a white Aura Aura}}.

Thrilling Tremors can only be triggered once every 100/80/60 seconds.

Trail of Torment}} Trail of Torment

You guide your victims along a path of pain and punishment.

After kicking a Generator Generator}}, you become Undetectable Undetectable}} for 16 seconds.
During this time, the Generator's Aura Aura}} is revealed in yellow to all Survivors.

Trail of Torment can only be triggered once every 80/70/60 seconds.

Zanshin Tactics}} Zanshin Tactics

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

You are mentally alert and aware of key points on the battlefield.

The Auras Auras}} of all Pallets Pallets}}, Breakable Walls Breakable Walls}}, and Vaults Vaults}} are revealed to you within a range of 24 metres.

When a Survivor is damaged, Zanshin Tactics becomes inactive for 40/35/30 seconds.

Aftercare}} Aftercare

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

You see the Aura Aura}} of every Survivor that:

  • You rescued from a Hook Hook}} or who rescued you from one.
  • You completed a Healing action on or who completed one on you.

They also see your Aura.

This occurs for up to 1/2/3 Survivor(s).

All effects of Aftercare are reset when you are hooked by the Killer.

Your acute senses are on high alert.

When the Killer breaks a Pallet Pallet}} or Breakable Wall Breakable Wall}}, or damages a Generator Generator}}, their Aura Aura}} is revealed to you for 3/4/5 seconds.

While you have a reputation for being self-centred, you risk it all to help those in need.

When you unhook a Survivor, the unhooked Survivor leaves no Scratch Marks or Blood Trail for the next 4/6/8 seconds.

Both you and the Killer see each other's Aura Aura}} for 4 seconds.

Better Together}} Better Together

You seek justice and uncover the truth no matter what obstacle stands in your way.

The Aura Aura}} of the Generator you are currently repairing is revealed to all other Survivors located within 32 metres.

If the Killer downs a Survivor while you are repairing a Generator Generator}}, you see the Auras of all other Survivors for 8/9/10 seconds.

Blood Pact}} Blood Pact

It's as if a latent part of yourself has awakened. You feel like you can reach out beyond yourself for assistance.

When you or the Obsession Obsession}} are injured, you both see each other's Auras Auras}}.

After healing the Obsession or being healed by the Obsession, you both gain the Haste Haste}} Status Effect, moving at an increased speed of 7 % for 6/8/10 seconds.

Reduces the odds of being the Obsession.

If you are holding a Map Map}} that can track Objectives, Generators revealed by Déjà Vu are added to the Map.

After a Generator is completed, the Auras Auras}} of Generators Generators}}, Chests Chests}} and Totems Totems}} within 32/48/64 metres are revealed to you for 10 seconds.

If you are holding a Map Map}} that can track Objectives, Generators revealed by Detective's Hunch are added to the Map.

This effect applies only if you are outside of the Killer's Terror Radius.

As the Killer's Obsession Obsession}}, this effect applies to a maximum range of 56/64/72 metres. Otherwise, it applies to a maximum range of 44/56/64 metres.

Increases the odds of being the Obsession.

You've noticed that people pay attention to whatever makes the loudest noise.

After repairing a Generator Generator}} for at least 3 seconds, it will be highlighted to you with a yellow Aura Aura}}. The Generator stays highlighted until it is fully repairing, or you repair a new Generator, or enter a Locker Locker}}.

Entering any Locker will trigger a Loud Noise indicator for the Killer at the highlighted Generator's location.

Red Herring can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.

Repressed Alliance}} Repressed Alliance

You're accustomed to being hunted by malicious forces, and you've begun using it to your advantage.

Repressed Alliance activates after repairing Generators Generators}} for a total of 80/70/60 seconds.

When repairing a Generator while Repressed Alliance is active, press the Active Ability button to call upon the Entity to block the Generator for 30 seconds, after which Repressed Alliance deactivates.

Affected Generators will be revealed to all Survivors by a white Aura.

Saboteur}} Saboteur

Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

  • See Hook Hook}} Auras Auras}} in a radius of 56 metres from the pick-up spot if a Survivor is being carried.

Unlocks the ability to sabotage Hooks without a Toolbox Toolbox}}.

  • Sabotaging a Hook without a Toolbox takes 2.5 seconds.
  • The Sabotage action has a cool-down of 90/75/60 seconds.
Sole Survivor}} Sole Survivor

As more of your friends fall to the Killer, you become shrouded in isolation and the Killer's Aura-reading abilities towards you are disrupted.

Your Aura Aura}} cannot be read by the Killer within a maximum range of 20/22/24 metres for each killed or sacrificed Survivor.

While opening the Exit Gates, reveal your Aura Aura}} to other Survivors within a range of 128 metres.

While Wake Up! is active, you open Exit Gates 5/10/15 % faster.

  • As a Survivor, hiding in a Locker Locker}} will stop any Aura-reading ability of both the Killer and the other Survivors, but will also apply the Blindness Blindness}} Status Effect.
