IconStatusEffects bloodLust

Bloodlust is both a Game Mechanic and a Status EffectIconHelp statusEffects unique to KillersIconHelpLoading killer.

It was implemented in Patch 1.5.0.

Overview[]

Bloodlust is a tiered Status Effect that progressively increases the Killer's Walking speed in long Chases.

Use[]

Bloodlust was added to help Killers, especially those with lower mobility and/or no ranged attacks, catch up to Survivors who manage to evade them for prolonged periods of time.

One of several motivators for adding Bloodlust originally were the so-called "infinites", Vault locations that allowed a Survivor to endlessly loop a Killer at a time when neither Bloodlust nor the Vault-Blocker mechanic were part of the game.

Bloodlust Tiers[]

Bloodlust has 3 Tiers:

Tier Chase Time Speed Boost Resulting Speed
(4.4 m/s Killer)
Resulting Speed
(4.6 m/s Killer)
I 15 seconds +0.2 m/s 4.6 m/s or 115 % 4.8 m/s or 120 %
II 25 seconds +0.4 m/s 4.8 m/s or 120 % 5.0 m/s or 125 %
III 35 seconds +0.6 m/s 5.0 m/s or 125 % 5.2 m/s or 130 %

Mechanic[]

Charging[]

Bloodlust is charged whenever the Killer is in an active Chase.

In order for the Killer to be in an active Chase, all three of the following conditions must be met:

  1. A Survivor enters the Killer's Field of View within 12 metres of them.
  2. That Survivor is running.
  3. The Killer is walking.

If any single one of these three conditions is not met, the Game will not initiate a Chase and not charge Bloodlust.

Regressing[]

Bloodlust regresses at a rate of -20 % per second whenever the Survivor manages to lose the Killer and the Chase ends.

There are several ways how a Chase can be ended:

  • The distance between the Killer and the chased Survivor increases past 18 metres.
  • The Survivor hides for 5 seconds inside a LockerIconHelp lockers.
  • The Killer loses Line-of-Sight for more than 8 seconds.
  • The Survivor went past a viewing angle of ± 35 ° from the Killer's centre of their Field of Vision.

Losing[]

Bloodlust is lost immediately if the Killer performs any of the following actions:

  • Breaks a Pallet.
  • Successfully hits any Survivor.
  • Uses their Power.
