FulliconStatusEffects exhausted

Exhausted is the Status Effect to the Exhaustion mechanic introduced to Dead by DaylightIconHelp DBDlogo in Patch 1.5.2.

It is applied exclusively to SurvivorsIconHelpLoading survivor.


Mechanic[]

The Exhausted Status Effect is a debuffing effect applied by various Unlockables and the Remote Flame TurretIconItems remoteFlameTurret.

Survivors suffering from Exhausted are unable to use any of the numerous Exhaustion Perks, with Exhausted acting as a universal cool-down.

Exhaustion recovers whenever the affected Survivor is not running, and pauses if they run.

Remote Flame Turret Limited Item

A flamethrower turret that Survivors can retrieve from Control Stations and placed in the environment.

  • Tracks the presence of The XenomorphIconHelpLoading xenomorph within 41 metres of its location.
    • This ability is briefly disabled whenever The Xenomorph exits the Tunnels.
  • Grants immunity from Detection by The Xenomorph when it is inside the Tunnels while carrying the Turret.
  • Survivors suffer from a -35 % HinderedIconStatusEffects hindered Status Effect, and the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted and IncapacitatedIconStatusEffects incapacitated Status Effects, while carrying the Turret.
  • The AurasIconHelp auras of Survivors carrying a Turret are revealed to all other Survivors.
  • Shoots flames at The Xenomorph whenever it comes within 10 metres and Line of Sight of a deployed Turret.
    • Slows The Xenomorph and can knock it out of its Crawler Mode.
    • Overheats after firing for 4 seconds or after knocking The Xenomorph out of its Crawler Mode.
    • Overheated Turrets can be repaired.
    • Multiple Turrets firing simultaneously do not stack their damage output.
  • Can be destroyed by an attack from The Xenomorph.
Limited Items are consumed on use and also cannot be brought back to the Campfire after a Trial, with The EntityIconHelp entity consuming them after leaving the Trial.

Perks[]

Adrenaline Adrenaline You are fuelled by unexpecting energy when on the verge of escape.
  • Once the Exit GatesIconHelp exitGates are powered, instantly heal one Health StateIconStatusEffects healing and sprint at 150 % of your normal Running Movement speed for 5 seconds.

Adrenaline is on hold if you are disabled at the moment it triggers and will instead activate upon being freed.

If playing against The NightmareIconHelpLoading nightmare, Adrenaline will wake you from the Dream World upon activation.

Adrenaline ignores an existing ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect , but causes it for 60/50/40 seconds.

Background Player Background Player You are not usually the centre of attention and in some cases, this can be a good thing.

When another Survivor is picked up, Background Player activates for the next 10 seconds:

  • When you start running, break into a sprint at 200 % of your normal Running Movement speed for 5 seconds.

Background Player causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Background Player cannot be used when Exhausted.

Balanced Landing Balanced Landing Your agility and cat-like relexes are incomparable.

When falling from great heights, you benefit from the following effects:

  • Reduces the Stagger duration by 75 %.
  • Suppresses Grunts of Exertion from falling.
  • Upon landing, break into a sprint at 150 % of your normal Running Movement speed for 3 seconds.

Balanced Landing causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
Balanced Landing cannot be used when Exhausted.

Blood Echo Blood Echo The agony of one is inflicted onto others.
  • When hooking a Survivor, all other Survivors who are injured suffer from the HaemorrhageIconStatusEffects bleeding and ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effects for 45 seconds.

Blood Echo has a cool-down of 80/70/60 seconds.

Blood Rush Blood Rush Your mind and body are honed for great feats, allowing you to push through with extra effort when necessary.

Once you are one Hook away from instant death, Blood Rush activates:

  • Press the Active Ability button to lose a Health StateIconStatusEffects healing and instantly recover from the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect.
  • Causes the BrokenIconStatusEffects broken Status Effect for 28/24/20 seconds, while you are automatically healing back to HealthyIconHelp healthy.
  • Cancels the healing effect upon taking damage.

Blood Rush is disabled for the remainder of the Trial after use.

Dead Hard Dead Hard You can take a beating.

Dead Hard activates after being unhooked or unhooking yourself.

When you are injured, tap into your adrenaline bank to avoid damage.

  • Press the Active Ability button while running to trigger the EnduranceIconStatusEffects enduranceSurvivor Status Effect for 0.5 seconds.
  • Dead Hard then deactivates.

Dead Hard causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Dead Hard cannot be used when Exhausted.

Dramaturgy Dramaturgy When people bring you on to their project, they do so because of the unexpected magic you bring to your performance.

Whenever you are HealthyIconHelp healthy, Dramaturgy activates:

  • While running, press the Active Ability button to run with knees high for 0.5 seconds to gain a +25 % HasteIconStatusEffects haste Status Effect for 2 seconds, followed by one of the following effects:
    • Suffer from the ExposedIconStatusEffects exposed Status Effect for 12 seconds.
    • Extend the duration of the HasteIconStatusEffects haste Status Effect for another 2 seconds.
    • Scream, but without notifying the Killer.
    • Receive a random ItemIconHelp items of Rare Rarity, with a random selection of Add-onsIconHelp addons attached to it, automatically dropping any previously held Item.
  • The same effect cannot happen twice in a row.

Dramaturgy causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Dramaturgy cannot be used when Exhausted.

Genetic Limits Genetic Limits Around you, the limits of human life become readily apparent.
  • Whenever a Survivor finishes a Healing action, they suffer from the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 24/28/32 seconds.

Head On Head On When your mind is set, there better be no one standing in your way.

While standing in a LockerIconHelp lockers for 3 seconds, Head On activates:

  • When rushing out of a Locker, stun the Killer for 3 seconds if they are within range.

Head On causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Head On cannot be used when Exhausted or when you have accrued Idle CrowsIconHelp crows.

Iron Will Iron Will You are able to concentrate and enter a meditative-like state to numb some pain.
  • Reduces the volume of Grunts of Pain while in the Injured StateIconHelp injured by 25/50/75 %.

Iron Will cannot be used when suffering from Exhausted, but does not cause the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect.

Lithe Lithe After performing a Rush Vault action, break into a sprint of 150 % of your normal Running Movement speed for a maximum of 3 seconds.

Lithe causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
Lithe cannot be used when Exhausted.

Whenever you are in the Injured StateIconHelp injured, Made for This activates and you benefit from the following effects:

  • Gain the EnduranceIconStatusEffects enduranceSurvivor Status Effect for 6/8/10 seconds after completing a Healing action on another Survivor.
  • Gain a 1/2/3 % HasteIconStatusEffects haste Status Effect while running and suffering from the Deep WoundIconStatusEffects deepWound Status Effect.

Mindbreaker Mindbreaker Your distressing presence drains and weakens your prey.

All SurvivorsIconHelpLoading survivor repairing a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators suffer from the following afflictions:

  • Incurs the BlindnessIconStatusEffects vision and ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effects for the duration of the Repair action.
    • If a Survivor was already suffering from Exhausted prior to Mindbreaker affecting them, the Status Effect's timer will be paused and not recover for the duration of the Repair action.
    • Both Status Effects linger for another 3/4/5 seconds after a Survivor stops repairing.

Overcome Overcome You have calculated how much energy you can risk to expend.
  • Whenever you become injured, you retain the Movement Speed burst for 2 additional seconds.

Overcome causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
Overcome cannot be used when Exhausted.

  • Whenever a SurvivorIconHelpLoading survivor performs a Healing action while they are inside your Terror RadiusIconHelp terrorRadius, that Survivor suffers from the BlindnessIconStatusEffects vision and ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effects
  • These effects linger for 6/8/10 seconds after the Healing action is interrupted by any means.

Smash Hit Smash Hit When your rival makes a mistake, you seize the opportunity.

After stunning the Killer with a PalletIconHelp pullDown, break into a sprint at 150 % of your normal Running Movement speed for 4 seconds.

Smash Hit causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 30/25/20 seconds.

Smash Hit cannot be used when Exhausted.

Sprint Burst Sprint Burst
  • When starting to run, break into a sprint at 150 % of your normal Running Movement speed for 3 seconds.

Sprint Burst causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
Sprint Burst cannot be used when Exhausted.

Patch 1.8.0[]

  • Nerf: removed the functionality of accelerated (+33 %) Exhaustion Recovery while crouching.
    • Exhaustion then recovered at the default rate while crouching.

Patch 2.1.0[]

  • Nerf: removed the functionality of slowed (-50 %) Exhaustion Recovery while running.
    • It is now impossible to recover Exhaustion while running.


Trivia[]

  • Exhaustion was originally added to prevent Survivors from chaining together multiple Exhaustion Perks, which back then exclusively granted sprint bursts.
    • Specifically, its cause of implementation was the so-called "Survivor Machine Gun" (refer to Save the Best for LastIconPerks saveTheBestForLast for the Killer-equivalent), a combination of stacking both Sprint BurstIconPerks sprintBurst and Balanced LandingIconPerks balancedLanding, which was prevalent in late 2016 and early 2017.
  • Exhausted is removed instantly upon being hooked.
  • AdrenalineIconPerks adrenaline is the only Perk applying the Status Effect while ignoring its existence upon activation.
  • VigilIconPerks vigil is the only Perk that reduces the duration of the Status Effect.
  • Iron WillIconPerks ironWill is the only Perk affected by the Status Effect while not causing it.
