Overview[edit | edit source]

Most Props in Dead by Daylight can be interacted with. The majority of them of are accompanied by a progress bar, tracking an action's progression until it is completed. The speed at which an action is performed and the time it takes to complete it differ from Prop to Prop.


Interaction Types[edit | edit source]

There are three types of interactions: accumulative, resetting, and unprogressive interactions.

Accumulative interactions save their current progress upon interrupting the action, whereas resetting interactions reset their progress upon doing so, requiring one to start anew.

Accumulative interactions, however, usually have the potential of being regressed over time by outside influences.

Unprogressive interactions does not have progression bar and cannot cancel once you perform.

Survivor Interactions[edit | edit source]

Healing[edit | edit source]

Accumulative; Special: resets to 0 % for every Health State change.

The default Healing Time is 16 seconds. It applies to both healing yourself and healing other Survivors for an entire Health State Health State}}.

  • Self-Care Self-Care}} allows Survivor to heal one's self without usage of Med-kit. It also features 50 % Healing Speed slowdown applied multiplicatively [citation needed] after all other effects.
  • Dying State Recovery is the Healing Action exclusive for Dying State. It's Healing Speed is 50 % of normal.
  • Any Med-Kit Med-Kit}} without Add-ons attached to it features an increased Healing Speed if you use it to heal another Survivor. This buff is not applied to healing one's self.
    • We'll Make It We'll Make It}} is a Survivor perk that, like Med-Kit Med-Kit}}, aim exclusively to increase Healing Speed while Healing another Survivor.
  • No One Left Behind No One Left Behind}} is a Survivor perk that increases Altruistic Action Speed, a synonym to Healing and Rescuing Another Survivor.
    • Dying Light Dying Light}} is a Killer perk that tremendously increases Obsession's Altruistic Action Speed.

Accumulative.

A Healing-like action, which accompanies Deep Wound Deep Wound}} status effect. This action isn't affected by the most of Unlockables that normally affect Healing, thus Mending lacks of variety that similar actions possess.

The Deep Wound status effect features two separate timers: the First one is Time to Fall, the Last one is Time to Mend. Time to Fall timer pauses its progression when a Survivor is sprinting or being mended.

Accumulative; Special: Killers Killers}} can start regressing process by performing their special interaction.

The only Unlockables that affect Repairing Speed exclusively are the perk Prove Thyself Prove Thyself}}, the item Engineer's Toolbox Engineer's Toolbox}} and some Toolbox Add-ons.


This Interaction allows up to 4 Survivors to Repair Generator simultaneously.

  • If multiple Survivors repair the same Generator, a Penalty Multiplier is applied to all Survivors repairing this Generator.

Opening Exit Gates[edit | edit source]

Accumulative; Special: Killers Killers}} can open the Exit Gates as well, but they perform this action much faster. They can open an Exit Gate by just swinging at the switch box.

Survivors Survivors}} can open the Exit Gates Exit Gates}} by pulling the lever at the switch box. Each red light above the switch box lightens at a specific percentage, namely 25%, 50% and 75%. As the third red light up, two subsequent audio cues can be heard. Once those two sounds play, the gate opens. Opening a Gate takes 20 seconds by default.

Cleansing a Totem[edit | edit source]

There are two types of totems: Dull Totems and Hex Totems. Survivors Survivors}} can walk up to totems and cleanse them, destroying it and, if it is a hex totem, deactivating its associated Hex Perk

With the help of Perk Perk}} Leader Leader}}, Survivors can cleanse at a much faster rate. The main Killers Killers}} asset to increase Cleansing Time is Perk Hex: Thrill of the Hunt Hex: Thrill of the Hunt}}. It's efficiency gradually decreases with every Totem Totem}} broken.

Sabotaging a Hook[edit | edit source]

Accumulative; Special: resets to 0 % [citation needed] when respective Hook is used to hang a Survivor Survivor}}.

Survivors with a Toolbox Toolbox}} or the Saboteur Saboteur}} perk equipped can sabotage Hooks Hooks}}, which will temporarily render this Hook unusable. The Entity auto-repairs sabotaged Hooks after 30 seconds by default. Basement Hooks cannot be sabotaged.

Searching a Chest[edit | edit source]

Accumulative.

Every Chest Chest}} contains an Item Item}} that can be acquired upon completing an interaction. The default of 3 chests spawn in randomly chosen pre-determined locations every trial.

The default Searching Time is 10 seconds. The major unlockable assets that positively affect Searching Speed are Perks Perks}} Leader Leader}} and Pharmacy Pharmacy}}.

Vaulting[edit | edit source]

Unprogressive; Special: Killers can grab an Injured Survivor trying to vault the window during short span of time.

Once you press the SPACE bar, you instantly vault the Window Window}} or Pallet Pallet}}. Survivors Survivors}} and Killers Killers}} can vault Windows, but only Survivors and the Legion Legion}} can vault Pallets.

Survivors can vault Windows to create distance in a Chase. There are three types of Window vaults: fast vaults, medium vaults and slow vaults. If you press the SPACE bar while walking, you will get a slow vault. In case you are running and press the SPACE bar, you will get a medium vault if you don't vault at a 90 degree angle of the window. In case you do, you'll get the fast vault.

Survivors can also vault Pallets that have been previously pulled down. However, there are only two types of Pallet Vault: slow vaults and fast vaults. If you press the SPACE bar while walking, you will get a slow vault. If you are running and press the SPACE bar, you'll get the fast vault, regardless of the angle you vault the Pallet at.

Resilience Resilience}} is the only Unlockable to affect Survivors Vaulting Time.

Wiggling out of Grasp[edit | edit source]

Resetting Waning; Special: grants additional 25 % to the Wiggle Meter every time the Killer drops a Survivor.

Killers Killers}}' perk Mad Grit Mad Grit}} pauses progress for a time if another survivor had been hit while carrying. Also their perks Agitation Agitation}} and Iron Grasp Iron Grasp}} may provide means of more safe and faster transportation.

Survivors Survivors}} may help themselves to fill Wiggle Meter with use of perks Flip-Flop Flip-Flop}} or/and Boil Over Boil Over}}. Or, if another Survivor is present, they can attempt to use Breakout Breakout}} to free their teammate.

The default Searching time is 12 seconds. This can be affected by Killer Add-ons.

Accumulative.

To lower the Madness Madness}} Status Effect to Tier III to Tier I, Survivors Survivors}} have to Snap Out of It.

The Default Snapping Out of It time is 12 seconds.

Failing at Snap Out of It Skill Checks Skill Checks}} regresses 25% of its total progression.

This interaction isn't affected by any Unlockables.

Using a Pool of Devotion[edit | edit source]

Associated with The Plague.

Resetting Instant.

To heal themselves from corruption, Survivors Survivors}} have to interact with a special prop called Pool of Devotion Pool of Devotion}}.

Using a Pool of Devotion Pool of Devotion}} takes 6 seconds by default.

This interaction isn't affected by any Unlockables.

Waking Up[edit | edit source]

Associated with The Nightmare.

Resetting Instant.

To wake up from the Dream World, Survivors Survivors}} have to be waken up by other Survivor Survivor}}, fail at a Skill Check Skill Check}}, be hooked by The Nightmare Nightmare}}, or interact with a special prop called Alarm Clock Alarm Clock}}.

With Alarm Clock[edit | edit source]

Using an Alarm Clock Alarm Clock}} takes 2 seconds by default.

This interaction isn't affected by any Unlockables.

Another Survivor[edit | edit source]

Being waken up by another Survivor Survivor}} takes 4 seconds by default.

Being waken up by another Survivor Survivor}} increase the time to wake up in the same way by 4 seconds.
This penalty can be stack up to 3.

Damaging a Generator[edit | edit source]

Resetting Instant; Special: no special behavior regarding progress, except the purpose of this one is to ruin another.

Once Survivors Survivors}} touch a Generator Generator}}, Killers Killers}} can damage this Generator Generator}} which will start to regress its current progress over time. Survivors Survivors}} can stop the regression by touching the Generator Generator}} again.

You cannot damage a Generator Generator}} with Fire Up Fire Up}} 5 stacks, because there is no Generator Generator}}to damage when you have 5 stacks.

Damaging a Generator takes 2 seconds by default.

Revving the Chainsaw[edit | edit source]

Resetting Waning; Special: The Hillbilly can't attack with his main weapon until the Chainsaw depletes all of its charges.

The Hillbilly Hillbilly}} can rev up his Chainsaw by holding the Power Button (Default:M2). If you release the button, the progress bar will waningly reset. It takes 2.5 seconds to charge the Chainsaw by default. Whilst revving up the Chainsaw:

  • The Hillbilly's movement speed is reduced to the same speed as a running Survivor Survivor}}
  • He will still gain Bloodlust Bloodlust}}.

Once the Hillbilly fully charges his Chainsaw, he breaks into a Sprint and automatically puts Survivors into the Dying State Dying State}} on a successful hit.

Revving Bubba's Chainsaw[edit | edit source]

Resetting Waning; Special: press Attack Button (Default:M1) anytime while Revving to implement the Resetting Instant behavior.

The Cannibal Cannibal}} can rev up his Bubba's Chainsaw by holding the Power Button (Default:M2). If you release the button, the progress bar will waningly reset. It takes 2.1 seconds to charge the Bubba's Chainsaw by default. Whilst revving up the Chainsaw: Once the Cannibal fully charges his Bubba's Chainsaw, he starts a Chainsaw Sweep, downing every Survivor in his path. Running into an object forces The Cannibal into a Tantrum, this attack damages anyone around him. His Tantrum lasts for 5 seconds.
