Items are Unlockables Survivors Survivors}} in Dead by Daylight Dead by Daylight}} can use to aid their escape from a Trial.

Overview

Items can be obtained through the Bloodweb Bloodweb}} or by finding them in Chests Chests}} during a Trial.

All Items have a set amount of Charges that are usually depleted at a modifiable rate of 1 Charge per second. Once an Item's Charges have been used up, the Item will become unusable for the remainder of the Trial.

Add-ons

Main Article: Add-ons Add-ons}}

Add-ons allow Survivors to change various properties of an Item. Up to 2 Add-ons may be equipped with an Item.

Chest Loot

The rarity of an Item affects how often it can be found in a Chest. Players will generally find more Common and Uncommon Items than their rarer counterparts. It is possible to get Ultra Rare Items from a Chest, but the chance is very slim (around 2%, as determined by Community testing[1]).

One can increase the chances of finding rarer Items by using Plunderer's Instinct Plunderer's Instinct}}.

Keeping Items

If a Survivor manages to escape with an Item, it will be kept in their inventory and auto-equipped for the next Trial. However, any equipped Add-ons will always be used up.

Losing Items

If a Survivor dies during a Trial without the White Ward White Ward}} Offering, their Item and any attached Add-ons will be lost.

The Firecrackers are Items that were added during Events and could only be obtained for a limited amount of time. They usually get temporarily re-enabled during their respective Events as they are recurring. They can be used to blind, deafen and stun a Killer, if they explode near enough to them. They are single-use only.
Chinese Firecracker}}
Chinese Firecracker A row of small explosive devices wrapped in heavy paper casing. Detonates into loud bangs and intense light flashes.

Winter Party Starter}}
Winter Party Starter A small, highly-explosive dinner table decoration. Detonates into loud bangs and intense light flashes.

Third Year Party Starter}}
Third Year Party Starter A small, highly-explosive dinner table decoration. Detonates into loud bangs and intense light flashes, and playful confetti.

Flashlights

The Flashlight is an Item that is used to blind the Killer. If they are carrying a Survivor on their shoulder, getting blinded will make them drop that Survivor and be stunned for a few seconds.
The Flashlight is also very effective against three Killers, The Hag Hag}}, The Wraith Wraith}}, and The Nurse Nurse}}. Shining a Flashlight upon a Wraith Wraith}} when he is cloaked or in the act of uncloaking will trigger the light burn effect, stunning him for a few seconds and forcing an instant uncloak. Shining a Flashlight upon one of the Hag's Phantasm Traps will highlight and destroy it. Shining a Flashlight upon the Nurse Nurse}} while she is charging up a blink will trigger the light burn effect, causing her to go straight into the fatigue from the blink.
Flashlight (Item)}}
Flashlight (Item) A standard Flashlight.
  • 8 seconds of use.
  • Can be used to light your way in the darkness.

Sport Flashlight}}
Sport Flashlight A very portable Flashlight with a good grip. Its efficient technology produces a powerful light while consuming less power.

  • Slightly increases Flashlight Beam accuracy.
  • Slightly decreases Flashlight Battery Consumption rate.
Utility Flashlight}}
Utility Flashlight A sturdy but heavy Flashlight that packs a lot of power.
  • 12 seconds of use.
  • Moderately increases Flashlight Beam Brightness.
  • Moderately increases Blindness duration.
  • Slightly decreases Flashlight Beam accuracy.
Will O' Wisp}}
Will O' Wisp A Flashlight equipped with a special lens cover that adds an orange tint and a little Ghost to the beam.

  • Considerably increases friendly Ghosts in your life.

Keys

The Key is an Item that can be used to open the Hatch Hatch}} when it spawns. It can also be used with Add-ons Add-ons}} to enhance its power and show the user different Auras Auras}}, such as those of other Survivors in their vicinity or that of the Killer. The Broken Key Broken Key}} cannot be used to open to Hatch and is of no use without Add-ons.
Broken Key}}
Broken Key The bow and shank of a key, vibrating with power. The Broken Key's power cannot be triggered by itself. Various objects can be attached to its jump ring, which channels the Broken Key's power into various effects.
  • 10 seconds of use.
  • Requires Add-ons Add-ons}} for any abilities.
Dull Key}}
Dull Key A bent and dull Key that once held great power. The Dull Key's power cannot be triggered by itself. Various objects can be attached to its jump ring, which channels the Dull Key's remaining power into various effects.
  • 5 seconds of use.
  • Can be consumed to open the Hatch Hatch}}.
Skeleton Key}}
Skeleton Key A tarnished and crooked Key, vibrating with ominous power. The Skeleton Key's power cannot be triggered by itself. Various objects can be attached to its jump ring, which channels the Skeleton Key's power into various effects.
  • 30 seconds of use.
  • Can be consumed to open the Hatch Hatch}}.

Maps

The Map is an Item that is used to track and mark props in the World. The standard map can only track Generators, but can track different props as well with the use of Add-ons Add-ons}} that enhance its power. You can even make the tracked Auras Auras}} visible to other Survivors and create markers that look like a pillar of bright light.
Map (Item)}}
Map (Item) An old piece of parchment made out of a skin-like material. Is rolled and sealed with an uncoloured leather string. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns the Map. Generators' Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.
  • 20 seconds of use.
  • Starts with 1 object tracked.
  • Unlocks the ability to track Generators Generators}} within a range of 8 metres.
  • Unlocks the ability to track Chests Chests}} revealed by Detective's Hunch Detective's Hunch}}.
Rainbow Map}}
Rainbow Map A piece of parchment made out of oddly fresh skin. Blood on its edge has yet to dry. It is rolled and sealed with multiple coloured ropes and cords. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks a great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns up the Map. Objects with Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.

Med-Kits

The Med-Kit is an Item that is used to heal yourself and other Survivors. Other Survivors can also be healed without the use of a Med-Kit, but it takes considerably longer.
Without the use of Self-Care Self-Care}}, a Survivor cannot heal themselves without one. Different Add-ons Add-ons}} can be equipped that enhance its healing speed or durability.
Camping Aid Kit}}
Camping Aid Kit A rudimentary Aid Kit which can save lives in emergencies, even if it's lacking some of its supplies.
  • 16 Charges.
  • Moderately increases Altruistic Healing speed.
  • Unlocks the Self-Healing action.

First Aid Kit}}
First Aid Kit A standard First Aid Kit with all the necessary equipment for treating common to more serious injuries.
  • 24 Charges.
  • Considerably increases Altruistic Healing speed.

Emergency Med-Kit A sturdy and well organised Med-Kit equipped with top condition emergency supplies.

Ranger Med-Kit A large metal box containing medical supplies aimed at emergency rescues in hard to reach, often isolated locations.

  • Moderately increases Skill Check bonus zones.
  • Unlocks the Self-Healing action.

Toolboxes

The Toolbox is an Item that can be used to repair Generators Generators}} more quickly or sabotage hooks. Different Toolboxes have different uses and not all of them are good for both uses. Add-ons Add-ons}} can be equipped to enhance their speed and durability.
Worn-Out Tools}}
Worn-Out Tools A metal box containing out of condition tools that could break at any moment. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.
  • 16 Charges.
  • Moderately increases Repair speed.
  • Slightly decreases Skill Check success zones.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.

Alex's Toolbox A metal box containing mainly saws and vice grips of varying sizes but also other tools. Even though the content of this Toolbox is clearly aimed at destructive deeds, it can be used to repair various mechanical components as well.
