Lunge is a feature unique to the Killers in Dead by Daylight IconHelp DBDlogo.png.

Overview[edit | edit source]

When a Killer presses and holds the primary attack button instead of just tapping it, they will perform a Lunge Attack, which has more range than the standard Quick Attack.

Mechanic[edit | edit source]

During the Lunge animation, the Killer's base Movement Speed momentarily (0.3 seconds) increases to 150 %, causing them to dash forward, which is what gives them the increased range over the Quick Attack.

Range[edit | edit source]

A Killer's Lunge range is directly determined by their base movement speed. There are two exceptions to this, but it can generally be said, that faster Killers have a longer range and slower Killers have a shorter range.

If a Killer has multiple base movement speeds with which they can perform a Lunge attack (currently only The Shape), their Lunge range will vary between them.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Lunge Mechanic works very similar to the Perk Dead Hard IconPerks deadHard.png for Survivors IconHelpLoading survivor.png
  • Prior to Patch 1.9.0, The Nurse had a special post-blink lunge with aim-assist, which was the longest lunge in the game.
    • She now has the default Killer lunge, that is not tied to her movement speed anymore.
  • The Shape on Evil Within III is granted an additional step during the lunge animation, giving him a longer lunge range and currently the longest lunge range in the game.
