This article is an overview of all Toolboxes featured in Dead by Daylight. For other uses, see Toolbox (disambiguation).

Toolboxes are a type of Item Item}} the Survivors Survivors}} can use in Dead by Daylight Dead by Daylight}}.


Overview[edit | edit source]

Toolboxes have two main uses: repairing Generators Generators}} faster and sabotaging Hooks Hooks}}without the need of the Perk Saboteur Saboteur}}.

Not all Toolboxes are suited for both aforementioned uses, some are specialised for just one of them and perform badly when used for the other.

Add-ons can be equipped to enhance their speed and durability.


The Standard Toolbox[edit | edit source]

This Item was the only available Toolbox until Patch 1.1.2

Toolbox (Item) A metal box containing a set of basic tools. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.
  • 20 Charges.
  • Moderately increases Repair speed.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Slightly increases Sabotage speed.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.

"It is unclear as to where these tools come from. Were they brought in by one of us or did they belong to one of the monsters?"

Worn-Out Tools}}
Worn-Out Tools A metal box containing out of condition tools that could break at any moment. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.
  • 16 Charges.
  • Moderately increases Repair speed.
  • Slightly decreases Skill Check success zones.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.

Mechanic's Toolbox}}
Mechanic's Toolbox A metal box with specialised mechanics tools. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.
  • 16 Charges.
  • Considerably increases Repair speed.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Slightly decreases Sabotage speed.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.
Commodious Toolbox}}
Commodious Toolbox A large metal box containing basic tool and extra mechanical parts. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.
  • 32 Charges.
  • Moderately increases Repair speed.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.
Engineer's Toolbox}}
Engineer's Toolbox A metal box with highly specialised tools meant for engineering. Most of the tools can be used by neophytes to make quick repairs or break various mechanical components.
  • 16 Charges
  • Tremendously increases Repair speed.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Moderately decreases Sabotage speed.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.

Alex's Toolbox}}
Alex's Toolbox A metal box containing mainly saws and vice grips of varying sizes but also other tools. Even though the content of this Toolbox is clearly aimed at destructive deeds, it can be used to repair various mechanical components as well.
  • 24 Charges.
  • Slightly increases Repair speed.
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
    • Considerably increases Sabotage speed.
    • Considerably decreases Toolbox Efficiency during Sabotage.

Swivels provide bend and flexibility for bolts that are out of reach, deep within mechanical devices.

Protective Gloves}}

Thick gloves, which reduce menial dexterity but protect hands from injury.
  • Prevents the Killer from being notified when sabotaging a Hook Hook}} with the Toolbox.

An adjustable wrench with a tough grip. Essential in any Toolbox.
  • Hooks Hooks}} sabotaged using the Toolbox take an extra 15 seconds to respawn.
Brand New Part}}
Brand New Part
Ultra Rare
This intricate mechanical part feels oddly out of place. It is clean and shiny as if straight out of the factory.
  • Toolbox Repair action is replaced with Install Brand New Part.
  • Installing the Brand New Part will complete 15 % of a Generator Generator}} over 5 seconds.
  • During the install, you will be faced with 2 difficult Skill Checks Skill Checks}}.
  • Hitting each Skill Check will result in 5 % progression for a maximum of 25 % added progression.

Brand New Part is consumed on use.

*Toolboxes consume their Charges at the same rate as their individual Repair speed, as these are the Charges that are being applied to the Generator Repair progress.
*The total Repair time assumes a complete Solo Repair, first using up the Toolbox Charges, then repairing the remainder of the Generator, without succeeding Great Skill Checks.

Patch 1.8.0[edit | edit source]

  • Skill Check chance for Generator Repair with a Toolbox increased from 8 % to 10.5 %.
  • Skill Check chance for Generator Repair without a Toolbox remains at 8 %.
  • Skill Check chance for Hook Sabotage with a Toolbox remains at 15 %.
  • Skill Check chance for Hook Sabotage without a Toolbox decreased from 15 % to 10.5 %.

Patch 3.6.0[edit | edit source]

  • Drastically reworked Toolboxes to no longer have enough Charges to repair an entire Generator with, but with vastly increased Repair speeds for swift, but short Repair bursts.
  • Removed the ability to sabotage Bear Traps Bear Traps}}.
