The Golden Toolbox is a recurring Easter Egg of Dead by Daylight
.
Overview[]
The Golden Toolbox is present on some Realms added to Dead by Daylight since the release of Haddonfield.
It is an Easter Egg, hidden in specific inaccessible locations on the Maps in which it appears. As such, it cannot be obtained or interacted with in any way, serving instead as an intrinsic goal for observant, dedicated players.
The existence of the Golden Toolbox was originally discovered at its Lampkin Lane location, where it was relatively easy to spot.
Since then, subsequent toolbox appearances have become increasingly more well-hidden, and its location in The Underground Complex incorporated new functionality tied to the Endgame Collapse.

Realm 1: The MacMillan Estate[]
Map: Groaning Storehouse
The Golden Toolbox is located behind a large, wrapped pallet of boxes on one of the Storehouse's shelves.
Before the map's visual rework in Patch 4.3.0 as a part of The Realm Beyond updates, the Golden Toolbox was located in the same spot, but was a bit easier to see.
Realm 2: Autohaven Wreckers[]
Map: Gas Heaven
The Golden Toolbox is located behind the front wheel on the bottom car of an L-shaped pile of cars. Due to this tile not spawning every game, the Golden Toolbox is not guaranteed to spawn every match.
Before the map recieved a full layout rework in Patch 6.7.0, the Golden Toolbox was located on the floor between two car piles.
Before Gas Heaven was reworked in Patch 4.4.0 during The Realm Beyond updates, the Golden Toolbox appeared in the same location between piles of crushed cars.
Realm 3: Coldwind Farm[]

The Golden Toolbox is located in the rafters of the cowshed in an upper corner, on the side with a covered window.
Before the map was visually overhauled in Patch 4.7.0, the Golden Toolbox spawned in a similar location. It would spawn at the very top of the rafters, and could be seen through a hole on the outside of the barn.
Realm 4: Crotus Prenn Asylum[]
The Golden Toolbox is located underneath the Clown's Caravan, behind one of the wheels.
Realm 5: Haddonfield[]

THE NEW LOCATION OF THIS GOLDEN TOOLBOX IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
Prior to the Map's Rework in Patch 5.7.0, the Golden Toolbox was located under a picnic table.
Realm 6: Backwater Swamp[]
Map: The Pale Rose
The Golden Toolbox is located underneath the floorboards of the Pale Rose, under one of the ramps to the second floor.
Realm 7: Léry's Memorial Institute[]
Map: Treatment Theatre
The Golden Toolbox is located outside the library at the reception desk. It's above the ceiling, and can only be seen at a certain angle.
Before the map's full rework in Patch 3.5.0, the Golden Toolbox was outside. It could be seen from the inside hallways, through a random hole in the wall close to the floor. It was also covered by grass and twigs, which can be seen in the image below.
Realm 8: Red Forest[]
Map: Mother's Dwelling
In Patch 6.6.0, the Golden Toolbox was moved along with the map's rework. It can be found in the roof of the Killer Shack, above the shack's window. It can also be viewed in the Killer Shack on The Temple of Purgation, making it the only Golden Toolbox that can be seen on multiple maps in one realm.
Before Mother's Dwelling was visually reworked in The Realm Beyond VII, the Golden Toolbox was located in the middle of a rock circle buried in the floor, with only its right side visible.
Realm 9: Springwood[]

The Golden Toolbox is located inside of a phonebooth at one of the intersections of the roads.
Before the map was reworked in Patch 4.2.0 as a part of The Realm Beyond, the Golden Toolbox was located in the same spot, but could only be seen from a survivor's point of view by tilting their camera downwards. The reworked location can be viewed by all roles.
Realm 10: Gideon Meat Plant[]

The Golden Toolbox spawns under Amanda's bed near the Workshop room, located above the Bathroom.
Before The Realm Beyond IV update, the Golden Toolbox also spawned in the Workshop, where it would be in a random open box.
Realm 11: Yamaoka Estate[]
Map: Family Residence
The Golden Toolbox is located in the main building upstairs in the rafters.
Originally, the Golden Toolbox used to spawn under the building, and could be seen from outside. This was changed in The Realm Beyond I update in patch 4.2.0
Realm 12: Ormond[]

THE NEW LOCATION OF THIS GOLDEN TOOLBOX IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
Prior to the Map's Rework in Patch 4.4.0, the Golden Toolbox was located in the main building and could be seen through a crack in a wall.
Realm 13: Hawkins National Laboratory[]
There are multiple possible locations for the Golden Toolbox on the Map.
All of them require the Endgame Collapse to be triggered for the Golden Toolbox to become visible.
The most well-known location is inside a crate in the Rift Lab.
However, it can also spawn inside crates located elsewhere on the Map.
Due to the departure of CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things on November 17th 2021, this map was inaccessible, and the Golden Toolbox could no longer be viewed in-game.
As of Patch 7.3.3, this Golden Toolbox can be seen by all players due to the return of CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things.
Realm 14: Grave of Glenvale[]

The Golden Toolbox is located in the Water Tower.
It can be seen through crack in the wall in Water Tower early in the Trial, as the time it can be seen for is limited.
Realm 15: Silent Hill[]
Map: Midwich Elementary School
The Golden Toolbox is located in the chemistry lab in a mound of flesh on a desk.
In order for it to be revealed, the Endgame Collapse must be triggered, and a Survivor must be downed early on in order for the Endgame Collapse to last long enough.
Towards the end of the collapse, the Toolbox will reveal itself and protrude from the mound of flesh.
Realm 16: Raccoon City[]
Map: Raccoon City Police Station East Wing
THE ORIGINAL LOCATION OF THIS GOLDEN TOOLBOX IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
The Golden Toolbox is located on an office desk in the Lower Floor of the West Wing. Said desk is situated behind a pile of debris blocking the central hallway of the wing.
The original location of the Golden Toolbox on Raccoon City Police Station is currently unknown.
Realm 17: Forsaken Boneyard[]
Map: Eyrie of Crows
The Golden Toolbox is located on one of the side walls of the Tower. It can be seen through a hole in the wall above a breakable door, and is viewable from one of the inside catwalks.
Realm 18: Withered Isle[]
Map: Garden of Joy
The Golden Toolbox is located in the treehouse and can be seen through the cracks of the floorboards.
The treehouse does not spawn every Trial and takes the place of a crashed train when it does.
Realm 19: The Decimated Borgo[]
Map: The Shattered Square
The Golden Toolbox is located in the Killer Shack. It can be seen from under the ceiling boards on one of the hay lofts.
Realm 20: Dvarka Deepwood[]
Map: Toba Landing
THE LOCATION OF THIS GOLDEN TOOLBOX IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN
The Golden Toolbox has not been found.

Trivia[]
- The Golden Toolbox on Midwich Elementary School is located in essentially the same spot as the Golden Medallion is in the first Silent Hill game.
- The location of the Golden Toolbox on the original Raccoon City Police Station Map is currently unknown, making it the only original location never found by the Community while the associated Map was available.
