This is a problem almost exclusive to The {{IconLink|Nurse}} after a Blink and The {{IconLink|Hag}} after a Teleport as both Killers have zero momentum right after using their Power. It is advised for Players of those Killers to momentarily wait with performing the '''Lunge Attack''' and build up some movement speed and momentum that the Lunge Mechanic can then boost to '''150 %'''. As soon as the Killer is moving a bit, they will already benefit from the full Lunge range.

The Attacks Attack is a Game Mechanic unique to the Template:IconLink of Template:IconLink.

Overview

When a Killer presses and holds the primary attack button instead of just tapping it, they will perform a Lunge Attack, which has more range than the standard Quick Attack.

Mechanic

During the Lunge animation, the Killer's Movement Speed gets boosted to 6.9 m/s or 172.5 % for 0.3 seconds, allowing them to dash forward, which is what gives them the increased range over the normal Quick Attack, that uses no movement speed boost.

Range

Up to Patch 2.1.2, a Killer's Lunge Range was directly determined by their base Movement Speed and it could generally be said that faster Killers had a longer Range and slower Killers had a shorter Range, with two exceptions having been The Template:IconLink and The Template:IconLink.

As of Patch 2.2.0, all Killers have the same Lunge Range and speed. Their base movement speed, if it differs from 4.6m/s, gets temporarily set to that and all reach a top speed of 6.9m/s during the Lunge Attack.

Momentum build-up

Seen as how the Lunge Mechanic works, it is absolutely imperative to build up a minimum of momentum before charging up a Lunge Attack in order to perform a full-ranged attack, otherwise the Lunge range will be severely decreased, resembling that of a simple Quick Attack.

This is a problem almost exclusive to The Template:IconLink after a Blink and The Template:IconLink after a Teleport as both Killers have zero momentum right after using their Power. It is advised for Players of those Killers to momentarily wait with performing the Lunge Attack and build up some movement speed and momentum that the Lunge Mechanic can then boost. As soon as the Killer is moving a bit, they will already benefit from the full Lunge range.

Unique Lunges

  • The Template:IconLink on Evil Within III is granted an additional footstep during his Lunge animation, giving him a longer, and currently even the longest, Lunge range in the Game.
  • The Ambush Attack of The Template:IconLink is a prolonged Lunge animation, allowing her to cover a vast distance with her Dash at 6.9 m/s, which also technically makes it the longest Lunge range in the Game.
  • Prior to Patch 1.9.0, The Template:IconLink had a special post-blink Lunge with aim-assist, which used to be the longest Lunge range in the Game.
    • She now has the default Killer Lunge, that is not tied to her movement speed anymore.
      • Her default Lunge Attack reaches 6 metres.
      • Her post-blink Lunge Attack reaches 5.667 metres.
      • Her post-blink Quick Attack reaches 3.333 metres.

Trivia

  • The Attacks Mechanic works very similar to the Survivor Perk Template:IconLink.
