Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability and improves your Luck when finding Items in Chests:

• The Auras of the following objects are revealed to you within 16/24/32 metres:
  • Closed Chests located in the environment.
  • Items sitting inside opened Chests.
  • Items dropped in the environment.
• Increases the Odds of finding Items of higher Rarities in Chests slightly/moderately/considerably .

Patch 1.3.0

• Nerf: decreased the Aura ranges to 16/24/32 metres.
• Buff: added a modifier to slightly/moderately/considerably increase the chances of finding an Item of a higher Rarity.

Patch 2.6.0

• Change: changed the chance modifier to find an Item of a higher Rarity to considerably across all Tiers in the Perk's description.
  • This only changes the Perk's description, as in the code, the chance modifier still increases with each Tier.

Patch 3.3.0

• QoL: now only reveals the Aura of unopened Chests.
• Buff: added the ability to read the Aura of dropped Items.

Trivia

• The flavour text is a direct reference to "Pizza Delivery" (Season 1, Episode 5A) of Nickelodeon's Spongebob Squarepants, in which Spongebob states: "The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles", after encountering a boulder in the middle of nowhere.
• Contrary to popular belief, Plunderer's Instinct does not interact with the Luck mechanic.

Description

• While not mentioned in the in-game description, Plunderer's Instinct actually increases the Odds of finding rarer Items with each Tier, though it is not clear what the coded modifier values (1/2/3) represent and how they interact with the loot tables.
  • This is why the description on the Wiki does not use the clear values but, like in the case of Predator, refers to modifier adjectives instead.
